Pen-Y-Wern is a twenty acre country park in an elevated position overlooking the Ystwyth Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty in itself and only 5 miles from the town of Aberystwyth in West Wales. The holiday park is a family business and run on a personal and friendly basis. We are an owner-occupied park for holiday purposes only and renting caravans out is not permitted, thus giving our park a true sense of community. It is developed and maintained to a high standard with all main services (mains water, sewerage, electric and gas) connected to all the caravans, combining the freedom of self-catering with all its modern facilities and yet preserving the peacefulness of the countryside, the perfect mix for a relaxing stay.
There is a tarmacked ring road that allows car access and parking to the caravans which is softly lit at night and has a speed limit in place that needs to be adhered to for everyone's safety. The park is landscaped with trees, shrubs, flowers and lawns. There are woodland walks, a fishing lake stocked with carp, tench, roach and bream, a children's play area and a dog's exercise field. Also a new addition in 2017 is a pay-as-you-go WI-FI managed by an independent company.
There is an outdoor heated swimming pool that is open daily between 9:30am-6:30pm from the end of May until early September, which has a large decking area as well as sun loungers and picnic tables for everyone to use when having a break from the water. Children under the age of 16 and non-swimmers must have adult supervision at all times when they are in and around the swimming pool. We also have a seasonal bar/clubhouse open on weekend nights, it is located at the basement of the mansion house and offers a wide selection of drinks and snacks, a pool table, a darts board and the occasional entertainment.
There are two waste disposal areas: one near the top end of the site with several large "wheelie bins" where you can dispose of your normal rubbish and the other at the bottom of the "dog's exercise field" for any green waste such as grass cuttings, flowers etc. There are also allocated bins for dog mess; dogs are allowed on site as long as you clean after them, keep them under control at all times and are on a lead when not using the "dog's exercise field."
There are site rules that follow the recommended B.H & H.P.A (British Holiday & Home Park Association) and local authority standards.
We are open from the 1st of March and close on the 9th of January. Site fees are available upon request, please contact us for any further information.
